Hyacinthus orientalis, known as the common or Dutch hyacinth, is a spring-flowering perennial bulb in the Asparagaceae family (subfamily Scilloideae). Indigenous to the eastern Mediterranean, it is prized for its dense, fragrant flower spikes blooming in early to mid-spring, presenting hues of blue, purple, pink, white, or red.
