Sempervivum

Sempervivum, known as houseleeks or hens and chicks, includes around 40 species of evergreen succulents prized for their resilience. Originating from southern Europe and Mediterranean mountains, these plants form compact, water-storing rosettes that flourish in dry, tough environments.

The main rosette—or "hen"—produces smaller offsets called "chicks," which easily propagate new plants. Their leaves, varying in length from 1 to 4 inches, display vibrant shades from green to red or purple, often shifting with the seasons. Summer brings striking star-shaped pink or yellow flowers on tall stalks. These hardy rosettes spread to create lush, eye-catching clusters, perfect for adding lasting beauty to any garden.
