Collection: Penstemon

Penstemon plants are known for their tubular flowers, which come in vibrant shades of purple, blue, red, pink, white, or yellow. The flowers often have a slightly flared mouth and may feature nectar guides (markings) to attract pollinators. The name "beardtongue" refers to the hairy or bearded staminode (a sterile stamen) inside the flower of some species.

Penstemon can be annuals, perennials, or subshrubs, typically growing 1–3 feet tall, though some species reach up to 6 feet. Leaves are usually lance-shaped or oval, arranged oppositely or in whorls. We sell perennials, of course.

Penstemon mostly bloom from late spring to early summer, though this varies by region and species.
