Collection: Perovskia
Perovskia atriplicifolia, commonly known as Russian Sage and now often classified as Salvia yangii) is a perennial flowering woody plant in the mint family (Lamiaceae). It's prized in gardens for its aromatic, silvery-gray foliage and long-lasting, lavender-blue flower spikes that bloom from summer to fall.
Grows to about 3–5 feet tall and wide. Thrives in full sun, well-drained soil, and is drought-tolerant, making it ideal for xeriscaping. Hardy in USDA zones 5–9, low-maintenance, and attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies while deterring deer and rabbits due to its strong scent. Aairy, upright structure adds texture to landscapes, often used in borders or as an ornamental accent.
Leaves and flowers are sometimes used in herbal teas or potpourri, though it’s not a true sage (Salvia officinalis). Pruning in early spring encourages bushier growth.
