Collection: Delphinium

Delphinium are tall, stately perennials producing dramatic vertical spikes densely packed with florets in shades of deep blue, purple, white, pink, and lavender — often featuring a contrasting central "bee."

3-6 ft in height (with some dwarf varieties 1-2 ft). Thrive in Full Sun -- at least 6 hours of direct light daily. Prefer cool summers, best suited zones 3–7.  Primary bloom late spring to early summer. Cut back after first flowering for  possible second bloom in early fall. Great for cottage-style borders, cutting gardens. Add dramatic vertical accents in mixed perennial beds. Excellent as cut flowers for arrangements. Not drought tolerant — eequire consistent moisture and rich, well-drained soil Considered deer resistant, but attractive to slugs and susceptible to powdery mildew. Tall stems may require staking to prevent wind damage. Toxic: All parts of the plant are highly toxic — to humans, livestock, and pets. Contain alkaloids (delphinines) that can cause serious poisoning if ingested.
