Collection: Platycodon (balloon flower)
Platycodon grandiflorus, commonly known as balloon flower, Chinese bellflower, or Japanese bellflower, is a perennial native to Asia where it's known for growing on slopes, meadows, and mountains.
Balloon-like flower buds swell before bursting open into star-shaped, bell-like blooms (typically 2-3 inches across) with five pointed lobes. Flowers are usually violet-blue, but cultivars offer pink, white or double forms.
It grows 1-3 feet tall (dwarf varieties are shorter, around 6-12 inches), with lance-shaped, blue-green leaves that may turn yellow or purple in fall. Blooms appear from midsummer to late summer.
