Common Name: Hollyhock

1st Dwarf Hollyhock, double 3-4" purple blooms and excellent compact, branching habit.

Queeny Purple is a specific cultivar of hollyhock (Alcea rosea) known for its compact size and vibrant purple flowers. Here’s more detail about it:

This hardy species of hollyhock has decorative lobed leaves that are borne all the way up the stems, leaving little bare stem at the base.

Appearance: Unlike traditional hollyhocks that can soar to 6–8 feet, ‘Queeny Purple’ is a dwarf variety, growing to only 2–3 feet tall. Its flowers are large (3–4 inches wide), with a rich, royal purple hue, often with a slightly ruffled, semi-double or fully double bloom structure, giving them a lush, full look.

Bloom Time: Blooms from early to mid-summer (June–July), sometimes extending into August with proper care. The flowers attract butterflies, bees, and hummingbirds, and the leaves serve as a host for painted lady butterfly (Vanessa cardui) caterpillars.

Growth Habit: Typically grown as a biennial, though it may act as a short-lived perennial in some climates. It self-seeds readily, ensuring future plants. Its compact size makes it ideal for smaller gardens, borders, or containers.
